Turning Instagram reels into bookable trips.

That was the idea behind Expedia Trip Matching — the travel industry's first feature to seamlessly connect social media inspiration to real-world itineraries. Travelers could share any publicly available travel reel directly with Expedia, and receive AI-generated recommendations, customized itineraries, and trip-planning resources based on the video. One tap, and you could build an entire trip from a 15-second clip. Inspiration met action without ever leaving the app.








The feature launched in beta in May 2025, making Expedia the first OTA to integrate real-time, AI-powered travel planning directly into Instagram. The industry took notice — 80% of millennials rely on social media for travel decisions, and we were meeting them exactly where they already were. Not pulling them to a website. Not asking them to remember a destination name. Just making the leap from 'I want that' to 'I'm booking that' as frictionless as possible. Mobile-first. Social-first. Inspiration-first.
